According to a survey commissioned by a major insurer of 501 small-business owners many understand the role of a good benefits package when hiring.

Just about two thirds of respondents reported they’re worried about their company’s ability to offer a benefits package that will attract and keep staff.

Half of those surveyed agreed that they can’t attract and keep top-quality workers without offering competitive health benefits. However, small-business owners also recognized that providing benefits presented certain monetary issues as well. The survey found: Almost half reported that accelerated health costs have negatively affected their employees’ wages.

Six out of ten respondents concluded that it’s critical to financially help workers with health issues and medical emergencies.

Forty-two percent of those surveyed concluded that annual increases in health benefits made them lower their offerings.

In feedback from home-based business owners, the company performing the research also discovered that a lot of them believed that coverage was available only to large firms. As a consequence, the insurer launched a new countrywide radio campaign focused on letting growing companies know that they may offer an affordable solution to reinforcing employee benefit offerings.

Quite a few insurance firms recognize that small business operators perform a lot of roles, including the responsibility of making quality health insurance benefits available to their employees.

But, with increasing health care expenses, many small business owners struggle to be able to afford the cost of health insurance while retaining and recruiting a savvy employee base.
