Register to vote in the State of Florida
People might not recognize that you need to register first before you can vote in the State of Florida. To register to vote in Florida, you’ll have to follow these guidelines:
Number one, determine whether you are able to vote in Florida. A person:
Must be a US citizen, Must be a resident of the State of Florida, Must be at least 18 years old(pre-registration to vote is allowed if you are 16 years old), Must NOT be judged mentally incapacitated, Must NOT have been convicted of a felony without your civil rights having been restored, Must supply a valid existing Florida drivers license or ID card, or Must provide the last four digits of your SSN if you do not have a Florida drivers license or ID card. Instead of these items you have to check the box indicated on the registration form as NONE.
For those who qualify, you’ll next need to complete a Florida voters registration application. Fill out the Voter Registration Application. Complete all fields. Print the application out. Ensure all information on your application is provided. The place you register, your SSN, Drivers licence number and ID card number stay confidential and are used only for registration purposes. Sign the application. Your original signature is needed because you are swearing or affirming to an oath. Mail your application on to the county Supervisor of Elections. You can opt to mail or deliver by hand your application to any Supervisor of Elections office in the state, the DMV, a registration agency, an armed forces government agency, or the Division of Elections office.
Many people often ask if they need to find a florida notary to notarize the application. As of the date of this article, notarizing isn’t a necessity. If this is a new registration application in Florida, the date the completed application is postmarked or hand delivered to a drivers license office, a voter registration company, an armed forces recruitment office, the Division of Elections, or the office of any supervisor of elections in the state will be your registration date. You must be registered for at least 29 days before you can vote in an election. If your application is complete and you are certified as a voter, a voter information card will be mailed to you. Remember to carefully review the application. If the data you provide is not true, you can be convicted of a felony of the third degree and fined up to$ 5, 000 and/or imprisoned for as much as 5 years.
